Booking a wedding in a city you do not live in means every supplier conversation happens by email, in a second language, months ahead. The dessert table is the item where that goes wrong most often, because it is the one part of the catering that arrives as borrowed furniture — stands, cloches and trays that somebody has to bring, set up and take away again, usually against a deposit that is only refunded when the material comes back.
How much does a dessert table cost in Barcelona? From 125 euros with Sweet Annie and from 300 with Urb&Cakes, which covers 10 to 300 guests. It is quoted as a whole, not per head.
Priced by the whole, not by the head
This is the structural difference from everything else on a wedding quote. A wedding cake works out at 6 to 10 euros a guest depending on tiers and finish. A birthday cake runs 1,48 to 4,00 euros a serving.
A dessert table has no per-guest rate. It is quoted as one composition, and the price moves with the number of desserts, the decoration, the theme and whether the staging material is lent or bought. Comparing two quotes therefore means comparing what is inside them, not dividing by the guest list.
What actually makes it different from ordering several cakes
Two things, and the second is the one that costs.
Some pieces are exclusive to the composition and do not appear in the workshop’s normal catalogue — they exist to sit on a table together.
The staging is a separate job. Stands at different heights, cloches, trays. Somebody delivers them, arranges them and comes back for them.
The deposit nobody budgets for
The staging material is normally lent against a refundable deposit, not included. Urb&Cakes lends it on that basis.
For a destination wedding this needs settling in writing before the day. If the couple flies out on the Monday, the deposit is still sitting with the supplier until the stands come back, and the person who returns them has to be somebody who will still be in Barcelona. A planner, a local relative or the venue can do it — but only if it was agreed.
Who will actually come to your venue
This is the first filter for a wedding, and it cuts the list to two.
Mericakes — atelier by appointment. Transports and assembles on site, coordinating with the caterer or wedding planner. Requires a minimum of 60 guests, so it fits large events only, and it is the one to approach first if nobody local is handling the setup.
Urb&Cakes — carrer de la Constitució 75, La Bordeta. Phone 93 706 83 64, WhatsApp 663 23 33 37. Supplies the composition and the staging material, lent against a refundable deposit. From 300 euros, handling 10 to 300 guests, the widest capacity range in the city.
Who supplies a table you collect
Daniel’s Cake — avinguda Riera de Cassoles 36, Gràcia, WhatsApp 634 55 43 67. Decorated biscuits and cupcakes matched to the main cake, the simplest route to a coherent table without a full service. Quoted individually, 3 to 7 days.
HelMa Cakes — Descartes 32, phone 620 90 14 95. Its mini-bite selection costs 77,00 euros, enough to anchor a short table, and it is certified 100 % gluten-free. 48 hours’ notice.
Barcelona Cakes — workshop in the Eixample, phone 93 205 36 96. Cupcakes and biscuits within a seven-format catalogue, quoted in 24 to 48 hours.
The small-celebration entry
Sweet Annie — from 125 euros, the lowest floor here, and the option when the guest list is too short to meet an event supplier’s minimum. A sixty-guest threshold rules out a great many destination weddings that are deliberately small.
Bubó and L’Atelier Barcelona sit outside the service model entirely: modern small-format pastry that works well on a table, bought as pieces, with no assembly.
Planning around August
Urb&Cakes closes its workshop from 4 to 21 August, though it continues answering quote requests during those dates. For a late-summer wedding the quote can be agreed in that window but the production cannot sit inside it.
August closures are near-universal among small Barcelona workshops, and they are rarely advertised in English. It is worth asking the question directly rather than assuming a reply in July covers a delivery in August.
Four things to settle before asking for a quote
The guest number, as a number. Not “a small wedding”. Suppliers price the composition against it, and Mericakes will decline below sixty.
Whether anything has to be free of gluten, dairy or animal product. If yes, that decides the supplier before the design does — see gluten-free cakes for the certified workshops.
Who receives and returns the staging material, and against whose deposit.
Whether the venue allows an external supplier to set up, and in what time window. Some hotels do not, and it is the answer most likely to change the whole plan.
Around the table
The single centrepiece cake is a separate order with a separate timeline — months, not weeks — in wedding cakes. If the table is for a birthday rather than a wedding, kids’ birthday parties covers the party side, and cake delivery the logistics of getting it to an address. For a frozen course instead of a table, vegan ice cream covers the dairy-free versions.
Frequently asked questions about dessert tables in Barcelona
How much does a dessert table cost in Barcelona?
From 125 euros with Sweet Annie and from 300 with Urb&Cakes, which handles 10 to 300 guests. There is no fixed per-guest rate: unlike a wedding cake, which runs 6 to 10 euros a head, a dessert table is quoted as a single composition.
What is the deposit on the stands?
The tiered stands, cloches and trays are usually lent rather than sold, against a refundable deposit. If you are leaving the country soon after the event, agree in writing who returns the material and when, because that money is only released once it comes back.
Who assembles it at the venue?
Mericakes transports and assembles on site and coordinates with the caterer or wedding planner, but requires a minimum of 60 guests. Urb&Cakes supplies the stands and composition. Bubó and L’Atelier supply the pieces but not the assembly service.
How is it different from just ordering several cakes?
Two things. Some pieces are made specifically for the composition and are not in the workshop’s normal catalogue, and the staging is a separate job: stands at different heights, cloches and trays that have to be delivered, set up and collected.
Can a dessert table be gluten-free?
Yes. HelMa Cakes is certified 100 % gluten-free and its 77,00-euro selection of mini bites works as the base of a short table, so the whole composition can be safe rather than just one labelled corner of it.
Does anything close in August?
Urb&Cakes closes its workshop from 4 to 21 August for holidays, though it still answers quote requests during that period. For an August wedding the quote can be agreed but the production window has to sit outside those dates.
Entry prices, capacities and closure dates taken from each supplier’s own published information, consulted on 1 September 2026. Dessert tables are quoted individually, so these figures are floors rather than estimates.
